Helpful Hints - To Resolve Annoying Issues

REMOTE ACCESS ASSISTANCE

When available, I can connect remotely to diagnose issues or help with basic functions.

RE-BOOT OR RESTART

image38

THIS WILL CLEAR OUT THE DIRTY CACHE IN MEMORY

A simple restart can resolve many annoying issues.  Be sure to let the computer come all the way back up before trying to access anything.  The older your computer, the more often you may have to restart it.

RE-ESTABLISH INTERNET CONNECTION

MODEM ALONE OR WITH A ROUTER

If you have DSL or Cable and only 1 computer, just restart the modem.  If you have arouter with multiple devices, then you must turn off or unplug both the modem and router, then turn on or plug back in the modem 1st (wait until the lights are green) then turn on or plug back in the router.  In some cases, you may need to re-start  your computer too.

LEAVE YOUR DESKTOP COMPUTER ON!

THE MORE YOU TURN OFF  YOUR PC - THE MORE CHANCES OF CREATING MOVING PART FAILURES

Saving energy is a myth with computers. Maybe $1/mo of your PG&E bill.  Your computer has moving parts such as fans, & hard drives.  In a sense, they are like light bulbs. one day, you try to turn it on and it won't work.  Leaving the computer on can actually prolong it's life.  My server is 14 years old and has only been shut down for upgrades or from power outages (less that 10 times).
